The left has failed, spectacularly, to seize the political moment since 2008, because it doesn't have a coherent global vision (look how Brexit killed Corbynism). So now as neoliberalism grinds to a halt, it is the nationalist right that is seizing the innititiative.

Blame the poverty of imagination, blame the capture of the left wing intellectual zeitgeist by a publishing industry and media figures like Mason, Zizek and so on, for whom the next step is always another fucking book tour, which means playing to what people already think, rather than developing new ideas.

Nothing more boring or pointless than long articles about how the conservatives are wrong.
