The way forward has to be about establish new evidentiary standards that all sides of politics can agree to. Methodological quality should be what distinguishes quality, not the political expediency of the conclusions reached. This is easier said than done.

The first step is for good faith, hard working journalists to start being honest and transparent about the process behind their stories.
